"A person who won't read has no advantage over a person who can't read." Mark Twain

Welcome!

You know the saying, "You are what you eat." Many believe, too, that we are what we read, what we watch, what we listen to, who we hang out with, who our family is, where we are from, where we've been, and dreams that we have. That said, I hope you'll find time this week to post to our blog so we can get to know each other.
Before you dive into your reader response, tell us a few things about yourself as a reader, what you like and don't like, what you are reading currently and why.

As you create your post, remember that a reading response is more than a summary or report of the obvious (i.e., regurgitating the plot, repeating clear facts of the action). After you give us a BRIEF summary, focus your response on specific details on some singular / particular idea or passage or character. Pay careful attention to the rhetoric of the texts and use specific quotes when you critique/discuss the text(s).

If in the book you're reading you see some connection to film, television, paintings, songs, other literature, advertisements, (insert other pop culture debris here), clearly make your connection in the response. Again, the focus is on your book, but if some outside “text” seems relevant, a reading response can investigate this—maybe unexpected—connection. You may also include personal history, stories, anecdotes, etc., in your responses, but please use discretion when revealing this kind of information.

A post is also a good place to make predictions about a text or storyline and also to ask questions and seek help from each other. Please, however, do not give away an ending for other readers.
